
June 1 - November 14, 2010 Please join us for the third annual NETC Team Tuna Tournament organized by the Northeast Tuna Club. The event will be a team based tournament running from June 1, 2010 through November 14, 2010. The details and rules are below. The entry form can be printed from a link at the bottom of this page and mailed in with a check or filled in online and payment can be made using PayPal. Details and rules are subject to change. Please check this page again prior to the tournament for any changes or additions or stay informed on the NETC forum. Event Information Eligibility:The 2010 NETC tournament is open to club members only. Registration: The registration fee of $75.00 is due on or before May 15, 2010. Entry forms can be filled out online at the bottom of this page and paid through PayPal, or printed out and mailed in along with a check for your registration fee. Liability waivers must be signed and mailed in with your application if you choose the mail in your registration method. Registration fees are non-refundable. Regulations: All registered anglers are required to observe your state boating laws. All anglers are required to have a valid tuna permit through NMFS and observe all regulations with your type of license. - Liability: The organizers of NETC and tunaclub.org assume no liability for injury or loss during this event. All participants must agree to this waiver of liability and will not be registered until you sign and return a waiver. Waivers are available to print and mail in with your registration. If you fill in your registration online you will be required to accept the terms and release NETC of all liability.
- Tournament Start Time and End: The tournament start time is June 1st at 6am. No submissions will be accepted after 11:59 PM November 14th 2010. Official weigh ins are counted once posted in the fish log on the NETC web site. All catches must be reported in the scoring thread on the forum. All scoring entires must be posted within 24 hours on the fish log in order to count. This will be verified before any points are added to your team total.

Fishing Information There will be two categories for entry in the tournament, recreational and commercial/charter depending on your NMFS permit. Fish caught on paid charters by members will not be permitted unless they are registered in the commercial/charter category. Methods: The use of artificial, live bait or dead bait, and chumming is allowed. Harpooning is also added this year for commercial/charter category anglers. Teams: Teams are chosen by the tournament organizer to make things even by mixing commercial and recreational anglers with varying experience. We will likely have individuals on the same boat who belong to a different team; that's okay. Each person will be able to use the catch for their particular team regardless of whose boat they are on.
Reporting: This team tournament is based on the honor system. All submissions must be made within 24 hours on the NETC web site in a dedicated thread on the forum as well as a submission to the fish log. Pictures are always appreciated, but not required. Contact DriveJohnson (cell: (603) 801-2196) if you need to extend a report past 24 hours due to not having internet access. Fishing Locations: At this point there are no limitations of locations that can be fished. Scoring and Additional Rules Scoring: Most points wins. All fish caught and kept or release are awarded team points based on the point system outlined below. In case of a tie, teams will split the prize money equally. All released fish regardless of size: 4 points each - To be considered caught and released the leader must be touched within 10 feet of the fish. The hook may be removed or the line may be manually cut. Hooks that pull out or break off do not count. Landed and kept under 47 inches, but larger than the legal minimum of 27 inches: 3 points each. Landed and kept tuna 47 inches - under 73 inches: 5 points each. Giants landed and kept 73 inches and over: 12 points each. Tag and Release Bonus- All tuna tagged and released will receive 1 bonus point. All NMFS approved tags will be accepted. Tag number must be provided with the report for the bonus point to be counted. - Judging will be done based on submissions made through the web site. If there is a report that someone is being dishonest in their fish reporting and proof is submitted to that fact, the angler will be disqualified from the tournament and all future tournaments.
Prizes: A cash prize will be awarded to the team(s) with the most points at the end based on how many people enter the tournament. Once we have the final number of members, we will decide how prizes will be awarded. |
